Just in time for the Super Bowl, I made these Delicious Game Day Chicken Kebabs — and they were a total hit with the crowd! With a slightly sweet and tangy flavor caramelized with BBQ sauce or glaze, these skewers are the perfect appetizer for game day or a side dish for any gathering. You can also swap the chicken for pork if you prefer, and easily adjust the quantities to serve your crowd.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken, thinly sliced about 1 inch wide and ¼ inch thick
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup oyster sauce
- ½ cup vinegar or lemon juice
- ½ cup ginger ale or 7 Up
- ⅛ cup minced garlic
- ⅛ cup sesame oil
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1½ cups barbecue sauce (for basting while grilling)
Spiced Vinegar Dipping Sauce
- ½ cup white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped onion
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- A pinch of salt
How to Make Chicken Kebabs: Step-by-Step Instructions
First, marinate the thinly sliced chicken with all the ingredients for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor. Then thread 3–4 slices onto each bamboo skewer and get grilling!

- Rinse the chicken strips and drain well. Pat dry.
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger ale or 7 Up, minced garlic, black pepper, and sesame oil.
- Marinate and ensure the ingredients are fully incorporated. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- Thread 3 to 4 meat slices onto each skewer.
- Grill the kebabs for about 3 to 4 minutes each side.
- When the chicken starts to lose its pink color, baste with barbecue sauce on each side. Continue to grill and baste, turning, until meat is cooked through.
- Remove from heat and serve with the spiced vinegar dipping sauce.
- Spiced vinegar dip: In a bowl, combine vinegar, garlic, onion, ground pepper, and salt. Mix well and serve alongside the kebabs.

Pro Cooking Tips
- Prevent burning: Soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before threading the meat.
- Deeper flavor: Marinate for 4 hours minimum, but overnight gives the best results.
- Food safety: Always let the meat cook through (until it changes color) before basting with BBQ sauce.

Storage Instructions
Cooked kebabs can be stored in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Simply reheat in the microwave for at least 1 minute or until warm. To freeze, place in an airtight container or bag, wrap with foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before reheating.
